Iphone for blogging businesses

Yes, we have a connection through our phones.  They are handy little devices.  In this post I’m going to highlight 6 things you can do with your phone to help your blogging business (or any business for that matter) right now.

1. A Habit App

I’ve been reading “The Coaching Habit” by Michael Bungay Stanier and one of the little tidbits I’ve gotten out of it so far is getting an app on my phone to help me develop (and keep) crucial blogging habits.  The particular app I use is called Stride and you can get it on the app store.  My particular habits I have set up are as follows: Blogging, 20 minutes of meditation, 30 minutes of reading, 20 minutes of exercise, blog commenting, engaging on social media, engaging on forums, freelance writing, working on becoming a guest poster, and brainstorming blog post ideas.  If you want to do more than ten you have to upgrade to the paid version but for me, those ten things are more than enough to keep me busy for the time I’m not at work or with my family.  The app keeps track of how many days in a row you do a given habit, and gives you stats on your daily progress.  It’s really a great thing.  Highly recommended.

2. A To-Do List

I’m a Libra and apparently we Libras are list makers.  I follow this rule.  I am always making lists of things I need and want to do.  Making the list is easy, the execution is the hard part.  I have found that if I’m organized though, the execution comes a little easier.  That’s why I use my iphone to keep a to-do list in the notes.  I break down what I need to do each day into snippets and can check them off as I do them.  The habit app has somewhat taken the place of my to do list, but still I think it’s valuable to write down those things you want to do that may not be daily habits, but things you just do once and get them out of the way.  One thing for instance that is on my to do list is to buy a bumper sticker for my car that has my website on it.  I figure that could lead to more traffic, more money, and more subscribers.  What are you going to put on your to do list?

3. A Blog Title List

This one I find invaluable and also goes in the notes section of my iphone (which I’m sure Andriod has something similar).  I just type down ideas for blog titles, and sometimes some specific information to be used for content, and record them all by the day I came up with them.  Each day I have a list of blog titles I can choose from when I go to write my next post.  When the titles have been come up with half the work is already done.  All I have to do is come up with the meat of the content (which really isn’t all that hard as it’s something I love to do) and presto, I have my next post.  The iphone notes feature is really helpful and I use it in two different ways right now to help my business.  Do you think that keeping a running list of blog titles to choose from will help your blogging business?

4. Video

Video is a powerful way to communicate.  It can aide you in earning the trust of your audience.  The beautiful thing is it can all be done on your phone.  From shooting the video to publishing it on Youtube, you can do it all from your phone.  Of course there is some extra work in publishing it to your website, but that’s only a matter of some copy and pasting and a few simple clicks.  Absolutely anyone can become more valuable by recording a video and sharing it on their website.  Youtube is a whole separate search engine so you are opening yourself up to new possibilities by using it.  Taking videos on your phone can help your business grow right now.

5. Voice Recorder

This one I also find very helpful, whether you share your recordings or not.  Just today I used the voice recorder on my phone to capture my creativity for analysis.  I came up with a short journal entry that I can use to build blog posts out of.  All because I took 13 minutes to talk into a microphone.  The joys of technology, it can really help you grow.  If you ever want your own podcasts too, you might want to first try recording your own stuff so that when it comes times to make that first podcast you will be in a more educated spot.  Just saying, talking your ideas into a microphone can lead you to more ideas, and soon you will be blogging away and improving your value, and is that as business bloggers what we all want?  Millions of ideas….

6. Pictures

This goes along with video, but it really is it’s own thing.  Pictures are important for bloggers and if you can take your own, all the better.  So far I’ve been taking pictures of nature and the sun, as I can’t look at the sun with my eyes without eventually going blind, I like to take pictures of it so I can look right at it.

The sun shines bright on bloggers.

The sun is beautiful.

Here is one of those pictures.  It was taken on one of my walks through the neighborhood.  You also may notice an orb left of center, take that for whatever you want.  I have read about orbs being in pictures taken of Dr. Wayne Dyer.

That’s what I called the 6 things you can do with your phone to help your blogging business right now.  I hope it gave you some ideas on how to use your own phone to help either a blogging business, or any kind of business you want to be in.
